The wedding is a Friday night. When should I arrive and plan on leaving?

You are welcome to get to Mobile whenever you want! We understand that people work (although hopefully you won't have to since it's New Year's Eve), and that many people will be coming from out of town. If you decide to arrive early Friday, or even Thursday, be sure to let us know! We do not yet know what will be in the works for Friday pre-wedding, but we certainly want you to be included. We will also do our best to provide you with local places of interest, etc, so that you do not get bored.
One of the beauties of a Friday wedding is that you get the chance to rest on Saturday before having to head back home! Just as you are welcome to arrive early, please stay as long as possible. And as with the pre-wedding activities, we will be sure that you are aware of any post-wedding activities that may be going on.
An itinerary will either be sent out with the invitations or be provided to you upon arrival.

What should I expect from this shindig?

We want everyone to have a good time, but we also want to be officially married and have had something resembling an actual wedding. We're going for the feel of a New Year's Eve party that has a wedding at the beginning. Nothing too formal, maybe a little shy of tradition, but fun and relaxed. The plan is to have karaoke at some point throughout the night, so if that doesn't scream party, I don't know what does!

Where should I stay?

We have set aside a block of rooms for the convenience of our out-of-town guests, though you are not required by any means to stay there. If you would like information about this block, please contact me. We have included a seperate page with hotels and accomodations for various places in downtown Mobile, West Mobile, and on Dauphin Island. Like most of the other answers we are giving, stay wherever you will be happiest and most comfortable.
***The reserve is coming off the block on December 15th, so if you have not reserved your room yet, please do so soon! Again, if you need information about the block, please call or email me.

What should I wear?

Whatever you want! Of course, the weather in Mobile (especially in the winter) is insanely ridiculously unpredictable. So you may want to pack multiple possibilities. But more than anything, we want everyone to be happy and comfortable. So if you want to come in jeans and a t-shirt, do it! If you want to wear a poufy ballgown, do it! (But you're also welcome to wear anything in between.)

Will there be alcohol?

We will have beer, wine, and champagne available.

Are you registered?

Argh. We did NOT want to register, but my grandmother, Linda, and a couple other people finally convinced me that we should. We were threatened with crocheted hamburgers and rooster decor. So we have created registries at Amazon.com, Belk, and Bed Bath & Beyond.

I still have questions. What do I do now?

If you can't get an answer you like from a member of one of our families, call us at home (before mid-December) 770-635-7286, call Ginny's cell (any time) 251-605-7724, or email Ginny at [email protected]
